Investment Objective

A multi-manager Fund seeking income and capital appreciation by investing primarily in investment-grade fixed-income securities and, to a lesser degree, in convertible and nonconvertible debt obligations without regard to credit quality, as well as equity securities, warrants and options.

The Fund is sub-advised by two complementary asset managers:

  • American Beacon: Uses a top-down process to manage an investment-grade, intermediate-term bond portfolio.

  • Calamos: Manages a convertible securities portfolio.

Convertible securities have equity-like characteristics that allow them to participate in strong equity markets, as well as fixed-income characteristics that help them protect when equity prices decline.

  • When equity markets are poor, the fund acts more like a bond fund.

  • When equity markets do well, the convertibles portion participates in that growth, and those gains are used to grow the income-producing bond portion of the fund.
